Hello. Welcome to the All Things Love Blog!
It is 2017 and I have proclaimed this year to be the "Year of the Healed Heart." The Bible says speak those things that do not exist as though they were. So, this is my decree for the year.
Our families, friends, communities, and America need to be healed. We could all use an injection of love, straight to the heart, wouldn't you say? And since We the People are the heart of the nation, the country cannot heal unless we
heal individually. I strongly believe that this is the year for the healing to begin.
The purpose of my blog is to promote love. Here, you will find inspiration to grow in loving yourself and others. God's love for you and His incomprehensible plan of love for us all, will become clear: A love that undergirds all of creation, no matter how much evil is operating in the world. Love will always prevail. This is love:
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. (1 Corinthians 13:4-7 NIV)
I use this Bible passage as a life scripture to help me understand how to treat people. For me, it serves as both the definition and the demonstration of love. When you treat others this way, you literally take care of their heart. Isn't that amazing? This love, has healing power. There are medicinal properties in your patience and kindness toward another soul. I encourage you to incorporate this passage into your daily affirmations to hear yourself speak love. Your words will help your heart to grab ahold of this profound way to love.
When life presents situations and
people that challenge your ability to love, it is a natural reaction to be defensive. But love has positioned us to play offense when we deal with people; and that's the part of love that causes the most struggle. We want to defend ourselves to the end; we want to be right. Yet love hasn't made provision for opinions; opinions need to be processed through the definition of love to see if they pass the test -- before we speak or act.
Now, love does require wisdom and understanding. God doesn't want you to dishonor yourself in order to love someone else. Really, love is about being humane toward each other, remembering that harsh words, disrespect, and being judgmental, hurt. And We the People are not called to hurt each other, but rather, to love.
I tell ya... This love thing is a tall order. But with the All Things Love Blog, we will master it -- one post at a time. Be sure to check back on the first of every month for new posts. Better yet, when you sign-up for my email list, an email will arrive in your inbox when a new article is posted. I'm so excited to start this journey with you.
